Moist Mashed Maine Potato Stuffing
1 lb. sausage meat (can use ground beef if you prefer)
¼ cup butter
½ cup chopped onions
1 cup celery, with leaves, chopped
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon Bell’s poultry seasoning
2 cups or more of boiled, mashed Maine potatoes (do not add butter or milk)
- Melt butter in frying pan and sauté onion and celery until tender.
- Add meat and stir until meat is slightly browned.
- Add remaining ingredients and cook on low heat for about 15 minutes. (Add more salt and pepper if necessary. Add more potatoes if stuffing is too loose.)
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until heated through, basting with drippings.
