Traditional Mashed Maine Potatoes


8 to 10 Maine potatoes
stick butter
½ cup cream
2 teaspoons salt
Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Wash and peel Maine potatoes. Cut into chunks and place in pot. Cover with cold water and 2 tsp salt. 
  2. Bring to a boil and cook until fork tender.
  3. Drain well, place pot back on low heat and dry potatoes.
  4. Add butter and salt/pepper to taste.  Mash well. 
  5. Add cream a little at a time (may use milk if you prefer) until creamy. Whip with masher until silky smooth.
